“Best Greek Restaurant in London”
My family and I always try to dine in one Greek restaurant whenever we travel to a new country. How lucky we were to find Kalamaras Greek Taverna when we visited London. We felt like we were in a taverna on a greek island! The food was INCREDIBLE and the host, George, treated us like we were family. We thought that was because we are Greek too…but he actually treated every customer, who walked into the restaurant, the same way! What a wonderful dining experience from appetizers to dessert! Delicious!

“A Warm and Friendly Greek Welcome”
My daughter and I visited Kalamaras on Sun eve a it was close to our hotel. It is a pretty little taverna situated in a quiet mews. We received a warm welcome and staff were attentive throughout. There is a good variety of classic Greek dishes with some specials too. I went for moussaka and my daughter had the chicken souvlaki – both dishes were delicious. My daughter is of Greek heritage and the owner took time to talk to us about Greece and favourite destinations. We were even treated to some delicious walnut cake. It made our first evening in London special and we would definitely return. Efharistou poli!

“Cozy & Authentic Greek Restaurant”
This place is easy to miss down an alley but just 50 feet from bustling Queensway St. across from the Bayswater Underground Station. But that is part of its charm – quiet, cozy, attractive outside and in. But that is just the warm-up to a great meal. Attentive staff and manager. Excellent nightly specials (we started and ended our England at this restaurant) and excellent Greek standbys. Price is right, food is great – well worth the search to find the alley location.

This restaurant was literally around the corner from our hotel entrance. We were starving, saw the sign, and went in. The staff was immediately welcoming and told us to pick a table. (It was early, so it was empty.) We ordered a sampler type of plate and some pita bread. The waiter brought some dips for our bread, too. Everything was delicious, so we inhaled it and waddled back to our hotel.

“Greece transported to Central London!”
My first visit there. I had noticed it tucked away quietly in Bayswater and had thought that I must visit. Given its hidden location, I wondered what it would be like. Prepare to be surprised and delighted. A little gem as many others have referred to it and the reason so many return.
I was greeted enthusiastically by the manager and received attentive service throughout from all the staff. The food choice is very typically and authentically Greek. The atmosphere was wonderful with a very mixed and international clientele and I really did think I had been transported back to a Greek island. Whilst there are very many “modern” Greek restaurants around that are quite clinical in their appearance and presentation, I really loved the rustic charm and friendliness of this place.
The drinks menu could probably do with an overhaul, but I really could not fault the quality and presentation of the food.
The restaurant does appear to have a few detractors, but I am happy to say that I disagree with them. Perhaps they were having a bad day when writing their reviews! Full marks to all concerned at Kalamaras! I shall be back to sample more of the authentic cuisine on offer very soon.
